Workplace Question??

So I overheard a lady at work make the statements that you about have to have your degree nowadays because all the young kids have theirs coming in, then she said their work ethic wasn't the same. I took offense to that statement, as I am a "young person" who has been working since they were 16, put themselves through college, and now works to pay off student loans. Was she in the wrong for saying that? No one else seems to think so.
