Toddler help
Alright I'm stuck in a pickle with this one. Lately my 3 yr old toddler has been wanting affection but she won't give it nicely. For example I'm 36 weeks pregnant and putting pressure on my belly hurts. So she will come to me when I'm laying on the couch and say
"Mom give me a hug" and I'll open up my arms and she puts her full weight onto my belly and then when I move her to the side and tell her "not like that your hurting mommy" she starts to act up and demands that she hugs me the way she wants to rather than the way I'm asking her too. And lately if I move her to the side she starts copycating me and says "ow your hurting me!" (Trust me I am NOT hurting her lol)
On one hand I feel her defiance deserves a punishment. She's been taught how to be gentle, and when I ask her to be gentle to me and she deliberately doesn't listen that seems like a consequence is in order. But my problem is it just feels so wrong to punish her for being affectionate with me. She's kind of stingy with affection in general and I don't want her to get the idea that her affection isn't welcomed. That being said I don't know what the appropriate consequence should be. 🙁
