Cystic fibrosis ?

Found out that I'm a carrier for cystic fibrosis :( I have one child but I nevered heard of this til this pregnancy. Any one in the same boat as me. I don't believe my kid has it. I'm also 10 weeks 5 days

Your partner can be tested to see if he's a carrier as well. If he is then you're child has a 25% chance of having cystic fibrosis. If your partner is not a carrier than there is zero chance that your child will have the disease but a 50% chance that they will be a carrier. I think it would be worth discussing further with your doctor or talking with a geneticist.

This was the one test that i insisted on. My dads brother died at 6 months from CF (grandparents had no clue they were carriers) and I have a distant cousin on my dads side that is in her 20's that has it. So I wanted to be safe than sorry. I am a carrier which prompted my husband to be tested but luckily he isn't a carrier.

You can get blood testing done while pregnant to test your child for cystic fibrosis plus so many other genetic illnesses. Progenity, Panorama, Harmony, MaterniT21..are all companies that offer the testing. I took Progenity blood test at 11 weeks, my OBGYN offered it to all patients.

Me and all my sisters are carriers, our husbands are not so no chance our kids would have it. If they were a carrier, our child would have s 1 in 4 chance of having it.

My husband is potentially a carrier as his brother recently died of CF age 20. Husband was going to find out if he definitely carried the gene but it wouldn't have stopped us trying for a baby so in the end we decided what will be, will be.

I have cystic fibrosis... Makes things pretty difficult, you should check to see if your male partner is a carrier as well
