First appointment not with an OBGYN?

I just made my first prenatal appointment online at a local obgyn, selected the reason as "pregnancy", and it's telling me my appointment will be with a nurse practitioner and not the actual Doctor? For my first appointment shouldn't I be with the doctor who is going to be seeing me through my pregnancy or...? I'll be 11 weeks and 3 days at the time of the appointment I'm worried I won't be able to ask the questions I need to or get an ultrasound or anything.

I didn't get to meet my actual OB until my second appointment. The first one was actually really simple. We got an ultrasound, I met with the NP & got to exchange some information, did a urine test, and that was it. I was only there for like, 20 minutes tops. :)

I went to my general doctor first then they referred me to an OB. At my first prenatal appointment I met with a nurse then my doctor so she could do a pelvic exam, ultrasound etc. Every appointment it's always nurse then my OB 😊

It's probably how your hospital does things, they need to confirm pregnancy before they will schedule your ob appt. this will probably be paper work, pregnancy test, and blood work. Don't worry, every hospital/doctors office does it different. My first appt was with a nurse doing paper work then I have to do blood work, then a week later I got to see my midwife and everything was fine.

In a lotbof offices the nurse practioners will see you until you get farther along. Sometimes until you are in the third trimester. I am 32 weeks and have only met one of the three docs at the practice.  One of the reasons I am switching. I would like to at least know the person who is going to be all up in my hooha.

I chose my nurse practitioner! I love her and I see her every time! She has delivered my daughter and she will deliver my baby boy next!

I had my first appointment at 13w6d. It took them 3 weeks to get me an appointment from the time I contacted them. Since I was so far they did lots of paperwork and an U/S. I met with a nurse first, but the doctor was there and saw me also.

My first was with an NP. I go to a practice so I've seen a few different doctors (based on when I've been able to make appointments), though I do have a doctor assigned to me.
