How much was your hospital bill?

I gave birth on 4/8. I was induced, had an epidural, and then had to have a csection and was in the hospital for a total of 4 nights. I do have health insurance but I'm terrified to see mine and baby's bill. How much did y'all pay to have your LO? I live in the United States.

When I got my pre bill from my gnyo when I was pregnant, I had to pay the total 2800 out of pocket that my insurance did not cover for the hospital that I was supposed to go to. I would have had to pay that 2800 before my 24th week of pregnancy otherwise the hospital would not take me.

That's fucking bullshit.

I won't be paying anything, but I work at the hospital I'm giving birth at. We also have state insurance here in Hawaii if we didn't have any other insurance... So either way I don't think I would be paying anything, plus my husband is in the military! I would be sooooo scared of the bills if I didn't have insurance. I don't know what it's gonna be like once We move to the mainland :(

I had a vaginal delivery. Haven't seen the bill in full but about 10,000 has been billed to my insurance so far. Epidural alone was $900. But I have pretty swanky insurance and so far only owe $600.

My out of pocket max is only 500 per person. and we've already paid half of mine. I assume we will reach it before September so the insurance will cover the birth!

Only paid a co-pay of $35  insurance paid the rest. My prenatal care is free

Depends on your plan, is your dr and hospital in network, do you have a deductible, co insurance, ect. With my 1st we had a deductible and insurance paid 80% after that we had an out of pocket max of 5000. I had a csection on top of the multiple over night stays throughout my pregnancy so my bill was around 8000, we had to pay 5000 but worked it out with our hospital to pay what we would pay if we had charity care so we paid 500 bucks! We have much better insurance now and paid 10 dollars for last pregnancy (csection) and pregnant again and it will be the same. Just what my copay is for 1st visit.
