The name debate

My husband is so stuck on naming our son after him and his father. I really don't want my son to be a third. His dad died when he was young though and it means so mucn to him. I have suggested maybe kust changing the babies middle name. I know he would not be a third but at least the family name would be carried on. What do you think? He does not seem to fond of the idea.
