Birds as pets

Am I the only one against having birds as pets? They are ment to fly in a 360 degree world. People put them in a cage inside of a house. How can you be an animal lover and deprive your pet the freedom they deserve? The only way I believe it is okay is if the bird has a broken wing and cannot fly. I'm not talking about domesticated birds. I'm talking about the exotic bird trade where people overseas steal chicks from nests and sell them.
