How painful was birth?

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and had to have a c section. (No pain there).

But the recovery is tough! Two months later and I'm still feeling pain in my incision.

I have horrid back labors where my pain is concentrated in about a 6inch diameter spot in my lower back and nowhere else. My 1st I tried naturally, but after 10 hours of labor asked for an epi which was unsuccessful after 6 attempts so went natural.
My 2nd I wanted to try natural again, but stalled at 4cm for 7 hrs ( after 7hrs of labor to begin with). I was so tired and in so much pain I asked for an epi, got one and slept for two hours and then had my baby.
My 3rd I was induced because my 2nd was large and had gotten stuck, I had an Epi at 2cm (once I reach 6 I tend to dialate quickly and they wanted to be prepped). It was the best delivery I had yet. My husband and I enjoyed each other's company, I was able to participate in decisions and enjoy the whole process instead of screaming at the top of my lungs for hours.
With this one, I'm requesting an Epi as soon as I walk in ;P.
That's my story, but everyone experiences labor and pain differently. I had a friend who walked into the hospital after a few hours of labor and was dialated to 10cm on her first baby!

I went all natural with my first and intend to do the same with this one if that tells you anything! The pain is white hot and intense, but you get breaks between contractions.

My first was pretty fast and wasn't any more painful then my monthly periods are until she started to crown. Then was the worse pain of my life but was over before I knew it. My second was all in my back, painful but not horribly and really long. I got an epidural with my second just because of the length and my husband sleeping, couldn't do it alone.

I have a very high pain tolerance so I went all natural but it was still of course painful even with my high pain tolerance

Painful. But when you're in the moment, actively going through it, and then get your baby---that moment trumps anything in the world, making the pain almost a moot point.
