lost my promise ring

ladies, I lost my promise ring and I can't find it. it was a cheap ring but this isn't about the price. it was $15 tops and I lost it. my boyfriend is moving soon and I got him a promise ring as well. well here's the thing, I offered to buy part of or the whole ring to replace the one I lost and my boyfriend is pissed cause he doesn't have a job but says he has to buy a new ring. he doesn't and I said I would buy it. either way, I don't need a promise ring to know he loves me. but he says it won't mean anything if I pay for it. agree or...... what ?
