Should i drop the charges??

I'm a victim of domestic violence, ive dealt with my ex for 7 years and he abused me the whole time til i couldnt take it anymore, i left him in october of 2015, i took me and my 2 boys and left, when i say domestic violence i mean enduring being hit while pregnant, being choked, slapped around, everything, so when i finally left he beg and pleaded that i not leave, then convinced me to try to co parent, i told him i was never gonna take him back, and thats just what i meant, so after i moved to his city he kept trying to get me to take him back, after he realized i really Dont want him, he went off beat my like ive never been beaten, he strangled me and raped me, so i called the police and had him arrested , his family knows he is an habitual woman beater, and they were happy to hear he was locked up including his mother, now they want me to drop the charges, ladies what would u do???? Would u drop the charges or make him do the time?
