It also depends on the students. Some of them just don't care and make it a point to disrupt everyone else.

As a teacher in CA, I think it depends on your school and the teacher.  Some teachers are amazing while others kind of suck and should find a different profession.

I think they are!! I graduated 4 years ago and mostly all we did was watch movies.. Now that I am in college it is like a slap in the face.. I was so not prepared for college.. I think they should do a better job preparing students for college!!

Honestly yes. Common Core is holding kids back, teachers are over worked and underpaid, communication is a constant struggle.... I was decently happy with our kids school until this year, but at this point I'm frustrated to the point I'm about to yank them out and homeschool as much as I hate the thought.... At least that way I'll know what they're learning!

Depending on the school. Often times it's the school boards (local, state, and federal) that fail schools. But in my class there are a lot of incredibly caring and motivated future teachers!

I am a senior in high school (8 more days to I'm out!) and I help in the elementary special education room. In high school some teachers teach you to learn and retain the content. Other souly focus on what is on the End-Of-Course exam. Some don't even do that. School is a joke to most students now. It's all memorization for tests.

In the elementary special ED room it's vastly different. Obviously, these kids need extra help with the more basic things. But they are also slowly being taught Common Core math. I, as a senior in high school who as been in advanced math her whole life, don't understand most of the Common Core lessons. These poor kids struggle with basic math and now that have this strange math thrown at them. One of my kids couldn't count two years ago, now he is adding and  subtracting big numbers. But when we get to the common core math the poor kid loses all hope. He simply can not grasp the wild concepts they are push in. But he isn't the only one struggling. My siblings also come home distraught that they don't understand the new math. And they get deducated points for incompletion because the adults in the house don't understand either.

Common Core had good intentions. But all kids think differently. Let them be.
