Carpool lane?

Where I live, this lane doesn't exist. I don't understand it though! What's the point of it?

Answer

Its to reduce the amount of vehicles in the road. Vehicles with 2 or more people in it (including driver) are allowed to use it. Its good for people commuting in groups to work out of town. A specific lane designed for traffic to move more quickly. So instead of 5 separate people in individual cars stuck in rush hour, they all carpool and use the carpool lane and none of them are late.

Answer

People traveling with two or more people can use the lane to go faster kind of.. Busses use it a lot too though so it's not super effective. I've only been on one a few times
