Is Lupron necessary?

I'm starting injections tonight. I've noticed though that some women on Glow use Lupron and I'm wondering how the RE differentiates who gets Lupron and who doesn't. Anyone have any answers?

I was only on birth control for about five weeks and no Lupron.

I triggered with lupron instead of HCG bc my estrogen was so high they were concerned about ovarian hyperstimulation and my doctor suggested that there were studies that lupron actually helped bring down estrogen and avoid hyperstimulation. Because of my risks I had to do a frozen transfer instead of a fresh transfer and once again I had to do lupron (much smaller dosage than when I triggered) when I began prepping for my frozen transfer. Nurse said it helped prevent ovulation.

I was on the long lupron protocol. I did 3 weeks of bcps and then 3 weeks of lupron before stims. I was put on this protocol because my ovaries love making cysts. Lupron keeps your ovaries quiet, I still had 1 cyst but it went down on it's own. The long lupron cycle took almost 2 months from the start of bcps to ET.

I also triggered with Lupron. My RE's explained to me that lupron in most cases is used for patient who might be at risk for OHSS. After the retrieval and when I was reading to start prepping for the transfer she put me back on lupron to quite ovulation.
