Vegans being offended by butchers?

 Is it true that some vegetarians and/or(?) vegans are offended by the butcher's corner in grocery stores? I heard from a friend that worked in Walmart that a group tried to get the meat counter to put up a curtain so they wouldn't have to see it (which was promptly and politely rejected). Is this an actual thing happening? How do you all feel about it? If you're a vegan or vegetarian, would you want there to be a curtain?
