Wait - you have to pay to adopt in the us? That's crazy! How many children are missing out on great parents just because families may not be able to afford it! I'm a social worker for a fostering team in the uk and I find this quite upsetting. Our assessments are incredibly vigorous and at times can be too emotional for some people but at least foster parents and adopters (some foster to adopt) don't have to pay.

If you are talking private adoption. I did it and it's costlty.. 11 yrs ago when I did it an African American baby was 15000 a biracial baby was 20000 and a white baby was 25000. They said it's was because other races had more come in idk but I ended up getting called for a lil white newborn baby boy and it ran us about 25 grand now keep in mind they do have adoption tax credits when you file your income tax. Most ppl do not know about this we got back 6500 from it.

Depends on the type of agency you go through there are some religious agencies that will cover all fees but usually the fees you pay are not for the actual child they are attorneys fees and agency fees.
