Flush or trash?

Ok so this is probably a weird question! 
I have a friend and she says she always flushes tampons. She has never thrown one in the trash. I always thought flushing them would plug up your toilet/septic. I would much rather flush them then trash them but I don't know if one of us is just crazy? Is it safe to flush them?

I used to flush them until I met my now husband who is a plumber and he said absolutely not! So now I trash them lol

Plumbers refer to them as 'white rats'. They are not safe to flush and will clog pipes or cause septic/sewer problems. If she doesn't believe you then have her call a plumber and have them explain the issues that could result.

It says right on most of the boxes that they aren't septic safe...

In England it's safe to flush them, iv never had a problems and they are tissue based. Pads will definitely clog a toilet though

I've ALWAYS been told DON'T FLUSH TAMPONS! Even when they say you can, they can snag in the plumbing and clog up the toilet. Not every time, but it's not worth taking the risk to me. So I got a diva cup and don't have to worry about any of that anymore!
