My two year old son acts completely fine when he's around me and his father. Father is a little more strict with him than I am. When his dad picks him up from daycare, he's happy to go (most of the time) but when I pick him up, he screams, throws a tantrum, doesn't want to leave. It's almost as if he hates me and doesn't want to go with me. As soon as he gets in the car, he's fine.

Why do you think there's such a drastic change in his attitude? Am I really that bad of a mom that he wants to stay at daycare?!

He does spend 70% of his time with me because his father, my boyfriend, works a lot.

He can get away with acting like it with you, but with dad he knows he won't. You should be a little more strict and I bet that behavior will stop.

Sounds like he doesn't want to leave daycare, and only doesn't throw a fit for his father Bc he's stricter and your son probably knows he won't get in as muh trouble with you, as he would with his dad.

My 2 year old son is the same way! All fine and dandy when dad's around but a devil and tantrum throwing when dad's not around. I have no idea why he does this but there are times when he walks over to me and says momma I love you and gives me a hug and kiss and runs off to play

It's because you're mom lol. And if you said is father is alot more strict with him he probably knows not to act out with his dad but thinks he can get away with it with you

The 1.5yo boy I daycare is the same. With dad it's shoes on and let's go. With mum it's I'm not leaving I'm going to play more. I try to help her some by encouraging him to come sit and grab his shoes and such. Do you pick him up more then dad does? I bet if dad picked him up more he'd start doing the same thing. Don't give him the choice. Sometimes you need to be strict and say that is enough you don't act like this or you will get time out. Pick him up and sit him down or let him lay on the floor and put his shoes on. Or if he doesn't want to then carry him out to the car and tell him this is what happens when you don't listen.

It's probably just because he doesn't get to spend a lot of time with his dad, so when his dad shows up to pick him up, he's ok with that. I bet if it were the other way around, and you were the one he rarely gets to spend time with him, he would be more that OK with you being the one to pick him up.

Honestly it's probably because there's so much fun stuff going on at daycare. Sounds like he spends majority of his time with you so to little ones mom becomes old news because they figure I can see that lady whenever I feel like! Lol. Hope that makes you feel better. ☺️ at least he feels secure enough with you to not have a melt down when you leave. He knows your stuck with him lol.
