Question!

Hi all! I'm new to this group but had a quick question. My wife and I are just finishing up our first round of ivf (fingers crossed for our bfp!) but are starting to wonder about the legal side of things. We used anonymous donor sperm so we aren't concerned about that but will we still need to do second parent adoption or will I be able to list my wife on the birth certificate? Is it different in different states? Thanks, any advice is appreciated!

I believe once marriage was legalized federally last year they had to allow us to put our significant others on the birth certificate. Something I am going to have to look into as well I guess....

Hi Chelsea, congrats on your first IVF- I hope it works! These laws vary from state to state. You might do some online research or if there is a queer legal group nearby give them a call. You can also check with your Employee Assistance Program if you or someone in your family has one through their work. Usually the initial legal inquiry is free or they can look up info or resources for you. What state do you live in?

I live in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure if we have that at our work but I could look into a legal group through hrc.
