Great experience of drifting from the plan!

Stewart Alban McGehee, 5/4/16 (on due date), 9 lbs 14oz, 21&3/4 inches long.

Planned on natural birth. Had prodromal labor for 4 weeks. Tuesday night at 7 pm contractions started. And they were painful. About 5-6 minutes apart for 2 hours. Got to triage around 10:00pm.

They made me walk around the labor abs delivery ward for 2 hours. Progressed a very little bit. Since it was my due date at midnight and I was GBS positive, they decide to admit us. Make me walk another hour. Laid down to rest, by this time it's around 6:30 Wednesday morning. While lying in my left side I had another contraction that broke my water.

Contracting gets real intense but by 9:30am I'm making no progress. I'm exhausted, it's been over 12 hours. There is no water to cushion the contractions and my cervix was not budging.

Around 11, after 16 hours of natural labor, I couldn't keep up. I went for the epidural. And boy am i glad I did. They started to run pitocin, cause by 2 everything still untouched by my contractions. And with increasingly higher doses of pitocin we still were going nowhere.

No more dilation, baby not dropping, thank goodness Alban's heart rate was perfect!

I started to doubt my ability to even push when the time came. By 24 hours of labor, I was still only 5cm, hadn't even made it to active labor, and time was running out on my broken waters and GBS+.

Since Alban was measuring 2 weeks ahead and 6 lbs at 33 weeks. We were certain he was too big for me and that's why he wasn't descending.

We agreed on a C Section. And boy am i glad. I wouldn't have had the energy to push out 10lbs. C section went beautifully and couldn't have asked for a better Plan B.

Also had a rare true knot!
