Slave Trades

Why do people blame white people for slavery when it was indigenous to the Middle East and Islamic empire whom exploited Africa and white people? Not to mention white nation worked the hardest to expel slavery. I think it's because Islamic empires were ruled by authoritarian andtotalitarian leaders which were not self critical of their own ethics and morals while white Europe were self critical and had larger forms of democracy.
