How long did it take you to get over your first love?

There is someone I have been involved with and it is not going to work out (custody of him not committing). I am very upset because he is the first person I've ever been involved with- first kiss, first sexual experience, first "relationship". 
I'm feeling very sad because I was really into him.

How long did it take you to get over the first person who broke your heart?

This is just My opinion but I don't think you will ever loose feelings for your first love but you can appreciate what happened and move forward and come back and be like "bitch look what you missed out on"

A while. My first love was my first kiss, my first just everything. I was with him for 4 years then he proposed I said yes, then we broke it off a month later because of a lot of stuff. I later started seeing someone else after about 2 months, I would still talk to my ex often then later started seeing him again. I finally had enough of everything he was doing and put me through, after 5 long years. I thought I would never let go of him because I didn't want to, I though I would never love again ect. Now we don't talk, I've been with my bf for 3 years, we live together and I'm so in love with him and know he's really my person❤️ it's hard, but it's life and there's someone way better out there for you. And you will move on at some point. But you have to allow yourself to let go.

Almost 2 years. Some people say you never lose feelings for them, but I honestly can't stand the thought of him. I was only 18, had never been in a relationship, and I didn't realise how abusive and manipulating he was until I met my partner and soul mate.

And I got over him.

I don't agree at all with the sentiment that you never stop loving your first.
