Baby Shower Drama

My mom is giving me a shower this weekend. I am very grateful for everything she has done. I told her I will be giving my daughter a gift from me and my husband during the shower to make her feel special. She then said she is giving my nieces a gift from her during the shower. I don't think it's appropriate for them to receive a gift during a shower for their cousin. Am I being ridiculous or is what my mom wants to do is inappropriate?
