Putting arms straight up bad while Prego?

I was speaking with a lady this weekend who Told me not to reach for things overhead unless I can bend my arm while doing it, and to not reach for items sideways. She says there is a piece connected to the baby's mouth that can come aloose in early pregnancy from too much reAching. Has anyone heard this before ?

U can EXCERISE,  u can bend, reach for things,  even lift your toddler if u have one. . Like the saying goes:' I'm pregnant, not handicapped"

Wtf she's an idiot. You can do everything you did before you were pregnant, especially early on. I'm a construction worker & was allowed to work unrestricted until 17 weeks.

I've heard this before but it was because during her last ultrasound in her last trimester they discovered the cord wrapped around the baby's neck. They told her no high reaching. Probably other things too but that's what I remember the most. So if you didn't hear it from your doctor, what someone else experienced or was advices could have only applied to them and their pregnancy at the time.

I've never heard that before! There are so many superstitions & old wives tales out there though! In early pregnancy i had a lady at work tell me that if i stood with my legs hip width or farther apart that the baby would fall out...apparently this also applied to walking quickly & taking stairs. I wanted to laugh but she seemed so serious & concerned that i just promised to take it easy & walked away (slowly). She still gasps everytime i hustle to the bathroom...I'm 22 weeks & baby is perfectly healthy and still in there. 😉 I think you'll be just fine too!

My friend who's a bit older than me now worked on a pig farm doing all kinds of things such as chasing pugs. Catching and picking them up, she was super active and nothing stopped her. 
It's okay to reach over your head. I recently found a ten minute workout for pregnant woman involving 8pd weights and there is some arm raising included.
Of course you can't get through 9 months of pregnancy without some crazy advice or someone saying something inappropriate, rude, or out of line.
