Co Sleeping Question

I was curious to know if it is safe or unsafe to let our little one sleep in a pack n play, and not a bassinet? He would be in our bedroom. I've tried finding info that is with for or against it but no luck. So maybe some of you have experience? (This is just a regular pack n play with no table or bassinet attached that I'm wondering about.) THANKS!
