Need advice about custody help

My husband uncle an girl friend lost custody of there son they have to do parenting class's I just know he got hurt he is 1 years old . Last night they called an asked me an my husband to get custody of him cause the court put him in foster care till a suitable relative is found. I'm a stay at home mom my husband works we have a 5 year old.My question is what is the qualifications we need to have and can we just get guardianship? I want to help them so badly I don't want him in the system.
