People who have had back labour whats it like?

Question

So my midwife told me because of what way my baby is facing my contractions are likely to start in my back and I m curious to find out from mums who have gone through back labour before and what the feelings an sensations felt like leading up to and being in labour as I've had strange feelings in my lower back the last 2days an unsure if it could be the start of anything.

When I went into labor, I had nothing but back labor. I never felt contractions in the front, but for me, it felt like my back was extremely tired, a mild pain, and then they eventually grew into longer harder contractions. But they were very manageable without any medication as long as I was moving around

I was induced, I had mild contractions until they broke my water and immediately my contractions went from mild to horrific back labor. It was like some one was crushing my back on both sides. I had an epidural within the hour.

My baby was sunny side up back labor is no fun. To me it felt like a wrench being twisted around my spine. I gave birth with pitocin and no epidural. It was painful but it ended. That what you have to keep saying..."this will end".

When the nurse asked me to describe my pain i said "it feels like someone is driving a rail road spike into my spine". Back labor is no joke, my daughter wouldnt turn even when the midwife tried to turn her so she was born face up. Get on all fours and rock your hips as much as possible befoee you deliver and hopefully gravity will pull your baby into a correct position. Good luck!

I was induced and baby turned back to back, felt one contraction in my stomach then nothing after, all pain and pressure was in my back, was truly excruciating tbh, had pethadene, wanted epidural when that wore off but was fully dilated but it is terrible so get an epidural as soon as.

I had a free birth at home with all back labor and back labor suuuucks. I felt normal the whole night till my water broke.  For about an hour or 2 I felt nothing, then I had a pressure in my lower back and that's when the contractions started. It's was manageable if I was moving around, I couldn't sit still when I was having a contraction. Hope this helps! It really wasn't an awful experience, right after I pushed my baby out, I told my SO I could totally do this again.

Oh man they where sooo bad kinda like getting hit by a car in the back over and over again. My baby was posterior which caused back labor and I was so determined to go drug free but I ended up being in labor for 4 days and on day 3 I gave into having an epidural, best decision ever! I just wish I had done it sooner.

Moving around is a great idea early with me the later in I got the more I couldn't move but had to stand up. I had some one to squeeze my hips together and omg it was wonderful took just about all of the pain away. Sadly I will deal with it again. Best of luck.

My back labor was horrible.  It felt like someone was tearing my muscles out of my back.  My epidural didn't work at all.
