New to dating as an adult and need advice

I started dating recently and found a guy I really like and really connect with we have gone on quite a few dates and have spent time just hanging out at each others houses and stuff but he's a really busy person his job is really demanding and he plays softball and he's been single for years and things are progressing really slow and I went a week without seeing him because he's so busy I just don't think anyone is that busy and I said that to him and he explained to me that he needs to learn to make time for things other than work and get used to making room in his life weather we end up In a relationship or friends . Do I fall back and see if he makes the effort or do I just keep doing what I'm doing ?
