Crib bumpers?

Some people still using crib bumpers for new borns but everything I read says not to... Anyone using them or anyone have thoughts?

I use the mesh ones for my kids. When they start getting out of the real infant state they sleep all over the place. I just use them to keep hands and feet inside the crib. Even now I walk in and there's a foot hanging out through the slats.

We did no bumpers until my son was 8.5 months old, then we put the mesh one in, and only because he kept sticking his chunky little legs through the slats and they would get stuck 😂 also he rolls both ways and gets around well so I feel more comfortable with it in there. He didn't sleep in his crib until 5.5 months though, slept in the rock n play

Safe sleep states that there should be no bumpers in the crib, even the mesh ones. I work with infants and their families and we require our families to sign a safe sleep contract that has these requirements, among others.

They're illegal to purchase where I live in Maryland so short of having a friend mail you one from another state, you can't order them online and have them delivered.

I've heard mesh ones are ok and there's a great alternative called Go Mamma Wonder Bumper where each individual slat of the crib is covered.
