Guy being soft

If you are making out with a guy before taking it further, you reach into his pants, and he's completely soft, what should you do??? I would imagine that it would be extremely uncomfortable to stroke or rub it directly when he's completely soft. However, turning away and taking your hand out of his pants would also be a little awkward. What do you recommend doing in this situation? Any response helps :) Thanks!
