Who should be in the delivery room?

So ever since I found out I was pregnant, people have asked me who I was going to have in the room with me. Well, I've always said my mom and my fiancé. Today I got a text from him saying he only wants me and him in there because that's a special moment to the start of our family. He has known,since I've gotten pregnant, that I wanted my mom there. She has been to every single appointment and test I've had. I see where he is coming from, but I don't know how I would tell her?

I guess I look at it a little differently.  I think the most important relationship is husband and wife.  (Soon to be in your case)😀.  I had originally wanted my mum in the room too but but the baby came a little early and she couldn't be there.  I'm actually so glad that it was just me and him.  Made our relationship even stronger.  Although it's true that you are doing all the work he is integral to the whole experience too.  If he is feeling uncomfortable with your mom being there I would listen to him.  Relationships are weaker if we let our moms: mother in laws create any kind of division between us and our partners, even if the moms did nothing wrong.  If the man is ok with mom being there then great, no problems.  But don't discount his opinion.  Husbands/partners are so amazing during deliveries. Lots of them cry and show a lot of emotion(I've been n hundreds of deliveries). It's a very emotional thing and he may just not feel like crying in front of your mom.  And sometimes moms take over and the father feels lost and like he is not a part of this great moment

Labour & delivery are all about YOU. If YOU want your mom there, then let your man know that you want your mom there.. He's not the one giving birth & busting it super extra wide open. If you need your mom, then make sure she is beside you!

I had my hubby, mom and dad in the room while I was contracting and in labor but when it came time to push it was just me and my hubby. I couldn't trust my mom to stay above the waist lol. I ended up needing a c section ( you can only have one person in the operating room) anyway sooo it was just us two either way 😊

My mom and sister and husband were there for my first. It honestly depends on you. I thought it would be ok but when it came down to it my mom and sister got in the way and my mom got a little to controlling and in my husbands way. So this pregnancy it will just be me and him

FTM and I've thought about this a lot. I've concluded I want Trevor (my hubby) in there, his Mom and my own Mother. I love my mother in law. This is both our parents first grandchild. The genders a surprise and I feel like it'd be so memorable and special for everyone to be there when Trevor catches the baby and we hear/see ITS A GIRL❤ or ITS A BOY💙!! My plan (I know things change etc) is to hopefully be able to labor at home..water break... drive 30 minutes to hospital. Have them there then. Then labor a while longer I'm sure and then push time! Birth is such a special moment from me and them too. They always give support and love & Id love them to be in the room when it's time 💖

With my first the sperm donor wanted nothing to do with anything to do with the pregnancy or baby (now 7 and still nothing) so I had 2 of my sister's there and I am so glad I had someone there because I was so scared. With my second I had my fiance and MIL in the room and I am glad she was there because it was his first and he was so nervous when the time came and she helped gently guide him in what to do and she helped give him advice on how to walk me through breathing she was such a life saver and it honestly made our (mine and hers that is) relationship so much stronger...seeing as how I first met her when I was 2 1/2 - 3 months pregnant lol.

For my kids only their dads where there. With my oldest my ex didn't want my mom there and I regret it as I had medical issues come up and he was passive over it and didn't stand up for me. I had a birth center birth and hemorrhaged bad and I was left with out proper care. With my daughter my now husband was just there since it was such a fast birth and mom was watching my eldest. This time it will be the same just me and hubby. He's got my back though, I know he would never leave me with out the best of everything.

I only had my now husband but then boyfriend in there with me both times and it will just be him in there this time, it does make it special instead of sharing the moment. Everyone got to see both babies but I've decided not to let anyone come this time until we make it back home since this is the first girl since me lol I'm about to be 26

My husband was the same way, but I respectfully told him that I'm sorry, but he's not the one going through the actual process of labor and deliver. Having my mom in the room for my first delivery helped me to feel so safe and secure, and I told him she will be in there with this delivery too! He needs to respect your decision in this matter.
