Pregnancy issues please help

I have been ttc for over six years after I lost my first child to early labor at 7 1/2 months, delivery was smooth, but she stopped breathing after a matter of minutes. I have very irregular periods so I'm wanting to know how to find out if I'm ovulating without buying ovulation tests. I understand when you ovulate the discharge is different and I need some information from you ladies. I understand I'm not the only one who has had these issues and I want to better understand what I can do to ttc #2.
