I'm a little confuse

At 12 weeks ultrasound the tech told me I have a fibroid close to my placenta (my placenta it's on the back) at 20 weeks ultrasound my fibroid was bigger and stick out from my belly , if the placenta it's on the back and the fibroid on front how they can be close ??
