Sister sizes?

Someone please explain bra sister sizes to me. I just find it so confusing lol. I've always wore 34B VS bras. I go in a few days ago and she tells me she thinks I may be a D and tells me to try on a 32D. Of course I did and it fit just fine. Some 34B's fit better and some 32D's fit better. But she got all kinds of excited for me when the D fit. Isn't it basically the same thing? Lol

I used to work at Victoria's Secret and sister sizing is just a way to get you to walk out with a purchase. You should never go up in the band because you will be sacrificing the proper fit. All of your support comes from the band, not the straps...so if the band is too loose you're basically wearing the bra for shits and giggles. Sister sizing means if you go one size bigger in the cup, you go one size smaller in the band to give you roughly the size you are actually supposed to be. Or you go one size bigger in the band and one size smaller in the cup from whatever size your should actually be wearing.

I suggest always trying bras on before buying them and getting properly measured each time to ensure you're wearing the correct band. Your band should always be worn on the loosest clasp to start as your bra will stretch out a little with regularly use. Please never buy a bra if it's fits on the tightest clasp, you need to go down a band size of that's the case. Your band should be tight but not uncomfortable and your cups should lay flat against your boobs with nothing spilling over and nothing cutting in anywhere. Please don't buy bras in the wrong size just to buy them, a proper fitting bra is a million times more comfortable than one that doesn't fit properly. Your sizing will also vary with each style and design so that's another reason to always try them on. Hopefully this helps a little!

I was explained sister sizes as follows: if you're a 34b but they don't have your size, you can go to a 32c or a 36a, whichever feels more comfortable.  For me, this makes no sense!  I measure 30 1/2 inches and am a large b/small c. I have to try on every bra... every single one. And I get measured every time I buy one- I get varying measurements. :/ it's frustrating... almost as frustrating as ttc.

I've never heard of sister sizes being that far apart... I used to be a 32C and my sister size was 30D.. It's basically cause some cuts and types are a little different so sometimes you need a bigger cup and smaller band or bigger band and smaller cup... Now I basically wear the same size all around but I have a favorite kind of bra now so that's probably why. Sorry I'm not good at explaining things lol
