What do you say when your husband loves a name but you dislike it?

My husband has been very set on the name Micah David for a boy. When we found out we were having a boy today, I've been secretly disappointed only because I don't really like the name he wants. But I know he really wanted a son and he really loves that name. I don't want to hurt his feelings. I mean I don't absolutely hate it. Should I say something? I really don't want to make him change his mind. I don't want his excitement to be dampened by me not liking his name choice.

I would try to find a name you both like. Compromise. But keep that name in mind. Use it for a while maybe to see if it grows on you. When my husband and I are deciding, we gather a list of names and ponder each one individually for about a week. What ever one we like we keep and the ones that don't make the week, we get rid of. The list narrows quickly. You want something you like too because it creates a part of his identity. Good luck. Hope you find a common ground.

I am doing the same thing.  I had a name set and then he chose another one and has been calling the baby this since forever so I caved in.  This is both of our baby's together but I feel like him naming his son is a way of him feeling important during the pregnancy.  I get to carry the baby and feel him move so the least I can do is grant him this.  In my opinion it's about compromise.

My boyfriend has always wanted a son named Alexandre. It's a name that runs in his family for generations and his middle name. I've never hated the name, but I didn't necessarily like it either. I said no. He was disappointed for a bit, but we compromised and decided on Julien instead. It was still important to him that his son had a french name so that's what he'll get, but we found one I was more comfortable with. I think that naming a child is so, so important, and I couldn't call him something for the rest of his life that I didn't like just to make my boyfriend happy.
On the flip side, I've always loved the name Savannah. He hates it. Again, I was disappointed but I got over it pretty fast and we found something equally pretty that we both liked. Knowing we both picked it and are okay with it makes it much more special to us!

you both have to like it, I didnt like the name my husband picked for our girl (Zelda😒) so I made a list of like 60 names for girls and showed it to him and we are now naming her Layla👍🏻 make a huge list and he might like another name

I was the same when we didn't know what we were having he had a boy name that he absolutely wanted but I didn't but the good thing was we found out its a girl haha but now he has a name that he likes but I'm not crazy about but I just tell him that well keep it in mind I'm trying to find a name that we both like so we can put that other name he likes as a middle name haha but just try to be honest with him and compromise on another name or just pick one as a middle name I personally like the name Micah better but again your choice just talk to him about it it's all about compromise

I was just honest with my hubby, so we named him what my hubby wanted and I gave him a nickname I liked... It has been 4 years and I love his name. So much so I only call him his name not his nickname 😊 but everyone else calls him his nickname including my hubby lol
