Emergency C Section Infection - may sue for malpractice

Sianna
Had a traumatic birth via emergency c section 11 days ago...lucky and grateful to have a healthy baby boy. Went to the hospital today BC the area above my incision turned swollen, red and hard and it turns out that I have an infection. An infection BC they "did not have time to sterilize me" and that "sometimes the antibiotics they give for the 24 hours after surgery don't keep infection at bay". My sister in law is a general surgeon and says that even when its an emergency and someone goes into cardiac arrest, they still sterilize before cutting. she says that I have a malpractice suit on my hands...anyone else dealt with this and know the legality? If it gets any worse, they have to re open my incision and drain/scrape all of nasty stuff out, with no local or general anesthesia, furthering my already traumatic recovery.
