A failure?

Will I be considered a failure if I decide to give up on breastfeeding? It's sooo much work to me, and I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now but it's become a hassle .... Doctors keep telling me oh you should continue, like okay, but my milk was being fortified w formula anyways & I'm not always able to pump and breastfeed at certain times .... Idk if I should just let my milk dry up, or continue to go through what seems like eternity constantly having to pump & store & pop out a boob ... Plus I believe formula will fatten him up faster as opposed to just my breast milk ..

I plan on NOT breastfeeding. Due to several complications. Don't let ANYONE influence to or make u feel bad about how things turd out for YOU.  It's NOBODIES business what ur PERSONAL REASONS ARE FOR NOT BREASTFEEDING OR STOPPING. 
NEVER ALLOW ANY OTHER HUMAN TO MAKE U FEEL ASHAME OF WHO U ARE AND HOW YOU DEAL WITH YOUR PERSONAL SITUATION.
ANYONE tells you ANYTHING insulting, tell them to go fuck themselves. End of story.

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. Personal choice completely! I was adopted at birth and I never was breast fed lol I turned out just fine!

Although I do plan on breastfeeding for the first couple months until I go back to work don't let anyone get you down by choosing not to breastfeed as long as you feed your baby nothing else matters. People always wanna stress the benefits of breastfeeding like it will make your baby healthier or smarter like just because he/she is breastfed it doesn't mean they won't have health issues or doesn't mean they'll graduate first honor in class do what is best suits you and your baby cause at the end of the day a fed baby is all that matters

I gave up after a week- I found it too stressful and baby was picking up on it.

Now I express so during the day baby gets formula and at night he gets breast milk :)

You are NOT a failure.  Sometimes it just doesn't work out the way we want it to.  The most important thing is to make sure your baby is properly fed.  If you need formula to do that,  fine.  A fed,  growing baby is your only measure if success.

Definitely not a failure. I hate breastfeeding so I totally understand. Im only doing it for 6 months max. And I already supplement because sometimes I cant handle sitting for an hour with him just hanging onto my boobs eating. I pump, supplement, and breastfeed and I dont BF in public. Just do what works for you. I guarantee someone will get mad at me at some point for some reason (they already have because I dont want to BF in public) but my baby is fed, has no tummy issues, and is happy and healthy. A couple things,why was it fortified in the first place? Have you worked with an IBCLC? Gone to a Le leche league meeting? Spoken with other moms regarding your struggles and how to make it easier/work better? Have you considered donor breastmilk vs formula? Breastfeeding is not easy at the beginning but if you stick with it you'll never regret it but you might in some ways regret it if you don't. Set small goals, like breastfeed for two months. Reevaluate, then set another goal or change.

Do what's right for you. Breastfeeding is no easy task and is extremely demanding. I have done formula only and breastfeeding only. It just depends on what works for you and this baby. Don't feel bad for wanting to do formula. My next will be only formula feed. I can tell you that now. Best wishes.
