Are you having a gender reveal party or just an announcement?

Just wanted to see what other moms will do. I am having such a hard time deciding if I want to go through the trouble of having a gender reveal party or just send out an announcement. I really want immediate and very close friends there if I do a party but worry others will get angry if not invited. People have been very passionate about knowing if it's a boy or girl. Which dumbfounds me because I don't even care! Haha. Anyone have advice or what they think they will do?

We did a reveal party with close friends and family, about 25 people. Family pitched in on bringing food, so it wasn't too expensive. We had a complicated pregnancy the last time, which ended in losing the pregnancy, and never got to do any sort of fun announcement for this one since we were so scared, so it was important for us to do this. It was so much fun and I am so so glad we decided to do it!

We had a gender reveal party with close family only. There were 15 or so people and we were out at my grandparents house. Super low key, I spent 40$ on cake and everyone else pitched in with other finger foods, fruit and veggies. My best friend went to our anatomy scan with us and she was the only person who knew. She placed the correct powder in the mystery box...and boom!

I feel like the expenses of a gender reveal party are extreme, especially when you consider havinf a baby shower soon after as well. I didn't let anyone plan my baby shower, so expenses came on us with my first born. This go round, we still refused a gender reveal party and went to a photographer we know and she took pictures of our daughter with the ultrasound and we announced to everyone the gender and name in that fashion. Everyone was involved who wanted to be, it was inexpensive, and no stress whatsoever lol everyone is different, but I opted away from gender reveal parties and have absolutely no regrets whatsoever!

I feel the same way girl so I am doing a gender reveal brunch! I'm 19 weeks and the brunch is scheduled for me when I'm 21 weeks. Close close friends and family, only girls , at a restaurant. Brunch, champagne, and baby shower ideas . I'm excited to find out now because I'm planning this party, but at first being that I'm a FTM I had no preference in gender. But when u actually plan the party you start really getting excited

This is my second child and we decided on having a gender reveal since we didn't do it for the first, and this time we won't have a baby shower. We didn't spend a ton of money- maybe $50 for all the decorations, drinks, balloons for the reveal, and I made some decorations as well. My parents brought pizzas. It was low key and a ton of fun! We did a diaper raffle for those that wanted to bring something and we ended up with a ton of diapers and wipes. So I'd say it worked out pretty well, and everyone had a great time!

I read an article shortly after I found out I was pregnant completely bashing gender reveal parties saying they're selfish and nobody even likes baby showers so why have two parties nobody even wants to go to.
Now I think the lady who wrote that article was just an unhappy person and she didn't have kids herself. Also it depends what kind of friends and family you have I guess..

With that being said I didn't want one, but everyone said to do it.. So I agreed, we did a pot luck style and no gifts were expected. Just wanted all our family and close friends to be around us enjoying food and each others company. It was a success! Everyone had a great time, my hubby and I didn't know the gender either so it was a surprise for all of us. I dropped off the gender in an envelope to my cake lady and she put the corresponding color inside. It was so fun hearing everyone applaud once we cut it open. We had a MC last year so everyone knew how much this baby means to us. If you want to do one, you don't have to a lot of spend money. Or if you just want to tell people yourself that's fine to! Your baby, your pregnancy 😊
