SAHM and health insurance?

My husband doesn't get benefits through his job so we use mine.  We have looked into me quitting and staying home but would have to pay for health insurance completely out of pocket which is looking like 850-1200$ per month!!! That's insane! Anyone have any insight? I'm feeling pretty depressed about this. Something is wrong with our society... Anyone stay at home and pay for benefits out of pocket??

Have you tried applying for medical? Or Medicaid for whatever state you're in? Or Obamacare for your state. In California it's "covered California." My husband works but I don't and on his income me and my daughter both qualify. I don't have to pay a dime for anything! The income limit for a two person household was like 3500 and I'm assuming that went up now that we have a daughter. Even if you don't qualify for full
coverage you'll likely receive payments that fit with your income. Look into it! :)

I'd just apply for Medicaid. You'd be surprised how easy it is to qualify. It's decent care, compared to what it used to be and is free. I wouldn't feel badly about doing so if you've worked all your life like I have and simply can't afford insurance.
