Birth Control Advice Please

So i have been on the pill for over 2 years and i quit it days ago. I dont want the side effects anymore and i dont want my ovaries to age and such. I thought a ton about it and it felt like the right choice. But i am still sexually active just not often.

I would like any advice on the most trusted condoms, other choices of birth control, such as spermicide and etc..

Also is it true that a woman can only get pregnant when ovulating ?

Any advice (POLITE) please. I am not ready to have children.
