Paragard insertion review.

Hailey
Hi guys, I'm hailey and I'm 17. Ive been staying at my boyfriends apartment for 6 months. He just found out he has to move and asked me to officially move in with him. So I decided I needed a reliable form of birth control and narrowed my choices down and decided paragard was the best choice for me; and my Dr agreed. While I waited for a month for the insertion appointment I had plenty of time to research people's insertion experience and everything I read terrified me. Most everything I read online from women who have gotten paragard wrote about how it was painful, and they would cry and scream. I was intimidated. Finally, I had my appointment on Tuesday and I'm here to tell you all that it went great. I had a very friendly nurse (training to become a midwife) there to talk me through the whole thing. The first part of insertion was the sounding to make note of how long my uterus is, and as soon as they inserted it I got a regular period cramp that lasted 3 seconds.the second part was inserting the paragard. It felt the same as the sounding but the cramps lasted a little longer and lingered after she was done. The nurse/midwife came and talked to me while I was sitting down after the insertion. I did cramp for a couple days off and on now, but its like mild period cramps, and im still spotting a little and its now Friday evening. I'm so happy with my decision and wanted to share my story with everyone because there's not very many positive reviews on this subject. Now I don't have to do anything to prevent pregnancy for the next 10 years, baby free until I'm 27! And I would do it all over again in a heart beat, if I had too.
