Pregnancy while on period?

Question

Just wondering and would love to hear input or feedback! If you are not on any birth control and you are on your period while having sex and your guy finishes inside of you, what are the chances of you becoming pregnant? Any stories or experiences? I'm having a debate with a friend and I'm PRETTY sure you can become pregnant at pretty much anytime. Period or no. Thanks in advance!

Okay, I'm currently a biology major senior in college pursuing a track in the medical field, so trust me on this one. 😉 When you have your period, that means your uterine lining is shedding because the egg your body released during ovulation wasn't fertilized. On your period, there's no egg available for fertilization. All the eggs are in the ovaries at that point and the egg that was in your uterus is now released from your body. So, no, you can't become pregnant on your period. However, if he finishes inside you let's say on the last day of your period (or near the end) and you ovulate early (say, at the most 3 days after your period), then you could become pregnant. Sperm can live up to 3 days in your uterus IF the environment is suitable. So you could become pregnant after your period, but not during.
