Bipolar and breastfeeding??

OK so I plan on asking my doctor but figured I'd see if there are any women on here with the same thing! I'm bipolar and I am on Seraquil.. However, being pregnant outlines my chemical imbalance enough I don't need my medication during pregnancy...  Unfortunately, durr to the rapid crazy hormonal changes that come natural with postpartum and mix it with being bipolar I know I will absolutely NEED my medication soon after I give birth.. Now my OB did tell me seriquill is OK to take while pregnant so would it be OK to take and breastfeed?? I really want to breastfeed more than anything but I'm worried I won't be able to because there is no way around not taking my medication that is needed to function properly... Anyone know this answer or breastfeed of bipolar medication before??

Tbh you might find less chemicals in the medication than there are in some formula milks! Speak to your doctor all medication outline if they are present in breast milk etc! It will take a we while for your hormone levels to lower and even longer if breastfeeding so you may find breastfeeding has the same effect as being pregnant. 
Research shows the breastfeeding for the even just the first few days/ ideally 3 weeks make a huge difference so you could always give it a go and see how your symptoms are and if you need to take meds and they aren't safe, swap at that time x

All I know is anything you intake the baby does too. :/ I personally wouldn't because I don't want my baby get any medication. No matter how much I'd love to breastfeed.

I'll prolly try holistic approach when the time comes... I've done them before but that was when I didn't have a baby so i don't know how well it'll work. My family are supportive though so I'm even thinking of maybe I can make it through. Positive thoughts 🙌🏼

I've taken Seroquel during my 2 pregnancies and currently 13 weeks with my 3rd, with absolutely no negative effects on my babies. I also breastfed both of them with no complications and intend on doing the same with this baby. I've met with genetic counselors for each pregnancy bc of the drug, and every one of them has said that all studies involving Seroquel and pregnancy have shown no known risk to the baby. 😀😀
