Should I just send out my registry to family and friends?

Im planning my own baby shower and I'm fine with that. The problem is I won't get many people to come unless it's after the baby is born. Would it look bad if I had a really small shower for a few people who are here and sent my registry to everyone else?

I would send an announcement out, like a baby shower invite but more like "my little boy/girl will be here soon! If you'd like to send a card or gift blah blah then add registry info at the end and your address" maybe something like that??

I just feel like that implies that you're expecting gifts. You know? Maybe have a party when the baby is here and that way they can bring something fun if they want to. I just think it's different if someone else was throwing the shower and adding the registry to the invite. Just my opinion!

This is kinda what I'm doing. Not having a true shower because my loved ones are so spread out that I would rather they make the trip when baby is here. So I plan to send out pregnancy announcements with a sort of "save the date" type blurb for a sip and see and include my registry with that. And then my birth announcements will double as sip and see invites.

I plan to do a Facebook evite with Amazon.com registry.  I'm even asking for gift cards.

I don't really understand the question. Usually you register and then send invites and on the invites it says where you're registered.
