Is it weird that me and my ex boyfriend are best friends? (Read description before answering please!)

After we broke up (it was mutual, we were better as friends), we both stressed that we wanted to stay friends. The first few weeks it wasnt awkward just different. But now, about 5 months later, we are best friends. His family loves me and considers me part of the family. We are really close. And I'm so thankful for that because I know most relationships end in a bad note or their relationship goes down to nothing. I just was wondering if what I have is rare?

I have never been friends with an ex but that's because they were awful to me or just losers.   So I guess I don't know

Me and my ex had a very close friendship (like the one you explained). Then I started dating my boyfriend and he doesn't like my ex. I waited to see if I truly had feelings for him then I told my ex that I wanted to be friends but didn't want to ruin anything with my boyfriend. Then my boyfriend asked if he could block my ex on my social medias and I said yeah I don't have a problem with that

I'm still friends with my "ex". We "dated" for 3 years but there was never anything physical. Seriously, we high-fives ONCE. It was awkward at first when we broke up, but now we're good friends and hanging out again. We even invited him to our wedding in a few weeks!
