How to remove gum from carpet??

Sq
Hi ladies, I know this post may seem trivial, but we rent, so I'm FREAKIN OUT!!! I was cleaning up some toys in my son's room & noticed a carefully placed toy over a wad of dried up, ground-in, BLUE gum in the beige carpeting!!! I've looked up a plethora of different ideas on how to remove it online, but some suggest to use harsh chemicals (WD-40?!) I fear will trade one problem for another, and other suggestions just seem like they won't work. I'd love some advice from someone who's been there, done that & successfully gotten dried gum out of the carpet. Any and all input would be SO appreciated, as I'm at a loss & would LOVE to get our security deposit back when we move out! Lol! Thank you all in advance!
