Dear EVERYONE!!! RACE RANT

Just because you have a friend of another race does not mean you can't  be an undercover racist or someone who is prejudiced to anothe race. The sly shit that you say doesn't make it right. They are not your "back up statement." I have plenty of (fill in the race) friends" I'm not a racist. But u say racist shit. Or you think the nonchalant things you say are "just jokes" nobody is laughing at your ignorant ass. Race plays a factor in MANY things and though people "don't see color" it's there. The fact that you don't acknowledge it makes you part of the problem. It's OK If you're uncomfortable, but who isn't? There are problems In this  world and one of them is race. And it needs to be addressed. It's ok. So let's here it. What's you alls opinions?

Ehhhh I'm just tired of the whole race debate stuff. I'm tired of hearing only white people can be racist, mainly. However, I do believe people can be slightly racist even though they have friends of different colors

Exactly yeah. I try to ease people up to that though until after they've accepted their indirect place in white supremacy

Since they don't have the power behind their actions/attitudes that we do. Might be wrong though-that's kind of a grey area for me.

I'm pretty sure we're the only ones that benefit from racism though. An East Asian person may something that's anti-black, but that would only contribute to white supremacist views, which in turn only benefits us. Idk, I just doing think that POC are able to be anything more than racially prejudice

Everyone, absolutely everyone, (myself included) holds unconscious prejudices. It's human nature. The best we can do is try to identify and work past them. Having friends of a particular race doesn't absolve people of this. As for color blindness, it was really popular when I was a kid. It's a nice idea, but it doesn't really work. I wish we could drop the term totally, and focus on multiculturalism.

Good question. A starting place would be to pump more resources into teaching about various cultures at schools and providing cultural programs. Like a program that teaches Comanche history/myth/craft/dance ect.

I guess i really dont understand because nothing will change while everything is based on money.

The only culture we learn is at school which is close to nothing might as well not have learned anything.

I'm not racist, but I hate stereotypes. Don't become the stereotype of your race just because of your color.

I agree. Someone told me to take a Xanax during my rant the other day. Clearly, ignoring the issues is going to solve the problem right? I'm sick of people saying "they're tired" of race related comments, or it makes them feel "uncomfortable." Clearly, these are privileged individuals who've not felt the pain of prejudice, been passed up for a promotion or been pulled over for DWB.Well, when we begin to treat all human beings with the exact same level of respect, dignity and decency, then people will stop making an "issue" of  race. No problem was ever solved by ignoring it, right? I'm sure if we ignored segregation, we'd all still be separate but "equal." And I'm sure people who are discriminated against on a daily basis are a bit "tired" of that, as well.

Lol okay Jessica. There's been plenty of these debates and I'm sure many users are tired of it. I don't have any solutions which is why I'm not offering. And how am I bashing? I said if you want something to change then go out there and change it. What's a post like this going to do?

I guess it's a spot for college kids to go to get away from everyone? I'm not really sure.

Sometimes, for parties not specified in a safe space they feel unwelcome. This is valid, but it's also important to be able to separate the feeling of being unwelcome and the feeling of being in a space not created with you in mind.

A safe space is a spot for people to feel validated. There's no age limit. There can be a safe space for people with disabilities to talk about their disabilities without having abled people tell them how they're supposed to feel. And other spaces like that.

America is becoming racist again because kids today don't know how to cope and need "safe spaces"
