Blood transfusion while pregnant...

Anyone else so anemic they need a transfusion BEFORE delivery? With my last I needed one after but I probably should have gotten one before. I was in and out of consciousness due to bleeding out during labor. I guess I'm at a 7 right now and my doctor said anything under 6 they consider life threatening so it's better to try to prevent it just in case I bleed out again. It will only bring me up to hopefully a 9 but it's better than nothing. The iron pills were just keeping me at the same level, not increasing it. So the nurse who drew my blood to see my blood type said I'm the first pregnant lady she's seen in the 5 years of her working there for a transfusion. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had to get one while pregnant??
