Epidural vs IV meds?

Ftm here at almost 37weeks..time is approaching 24days until due date. I Want to know people's opinions and experiences with both. I thought I knew what I wanted but there is just so much from the both I'm so unsure. I am not good at handling pain even though I would love to try all natural.

I got medicine through my Iv because I was scared of epidural. The medication can only be given every 2 hours so in the beginning I felt good...I was giggling and everything. 30 mins into the medicine I started feeling pain badly lol it was like the medicine wore off. So I ended up getting an epidural which was not painful for me at all. The only thing I didn't like bout the epidural was I was numb so I didn't know if I was pushing right. We plan out birth but once we're in that moment things change. Good luck mommy

The IV meds do nothing literally... Make you feel drowsy but that's it... Epidural works great because it lets you relax, pain free!! 😊

IV meds can cause your baby to be born drugged up, sleepy and floppy. It can also interfere with breastfeeding. My last two experiences with epidurals were less then desirable so I am going medication free this time.

I had an epidural. I don't understand exactly what happened but it only numbed the right side of me, so I felt everything on the left side lol. Even tho that happened, it was so nice to have a break from the pain of labor. I almost took a nap, but kept having to roll to one side then the other. It was such a relaxing time for me tho. I am very nervous for next month when I do this all again because I feel like I had the best experience of labor with my son. Even with it only working on one side! I don't have anything negative to say about it! That day was really great for me and I hope whatever you decide, it's a magical day for you as well!

I hated the epidural with my first. I made it to 8 cm all natural, after they gave me the epidural all contractions stopped and I had to be induced, get catheter, couldn't walk for over 5 hours after my daughter was born. I was entirely paralyzed from the waste down. I will not get an epidural again.

I had the IV one first with my son which later they told me that gets to the baby too putting them to sleep...my mom had to keep an eye on me because i would stop breathing & i had blood pressure once it wore off i asked about epidural & it went better my blood pressure was regular & had my son right away...im considering getting epidural again if i have problems with blood pressure..

My friend just told me she had two heart attacks while in labor due to an allergic reaction to the epidural. 😢

My epidural wore off and I was in pain so they gave me something in my IV too. That completely numbed me and I remember not being able to move my legs at all and my arms being sore from holding them up! But the labor pains were gone haha
