But only brown mucus comes off on my panty liner. I'm not sure if this is enough to warrant a trip to the er and I hate calling my midwife and having her treat me like I'm over reacting.

The same happened to me in 2014. I was 15 weeks and started spotting and finally went to the doctor and they said babies heart stopped at 11 weeks. I chose to miscarry naturally and a week later I went into what was like labor for 8 hours and delievered my angel baby. It's very hard but the pain does heal in time. Prayers for you.

I would go to er to be safe I've had this twice and both were miscarriages. It might not be for you if it doesn't get heavier but best to be safe.
