First time gynecologist

So I'm 18 and graduated from hs, and my mom recently just found out I have been having sex... She's pretty pissed to the point where she hasn't talked to me in a week? But she said I need to see a gynecologist and get on birth control which isn't a problem it's just I know nothing about seeing a gynecologist or how to schedule an appointment... What do they do to you? And how can I find a gynecologist?
